ABOUT

The New England Chapter of the ISEE, originally known as “The American Blasting Association”, was granted its charter in 1979. It has since become one of the ISEE’s largest and most active chapters.

The objectives of the ISEE, as stated in the Society’s constitution, are:

  • To advance the science and art of explosives engineering.

  • To promote through research, education and every constructive effort explosives engineering for the public good.

  • To provide forums and media through which experience with the principles and techniques of explosives engineering may be reported, discussed, and published in the furtherance of the general benefit.

  • To establish a repository for all information, both foreign and domestic, on the sciences and arts of explosives engineering.

  • To serve the states and the nation as a body of specialists composed of all segments of the explosives industry readily available to give services in matters which affect the manufacture, transportation, storage, and the use of explosives and related equipment.

  • To establish a certification procedure for all explosives engineers and practitioners.

  • To promote standardization of terminology in explosives engineering, and so far as practicable, develop standard methods.

  • To encourage the inclusion of explosives engineering instruction in engineering curricula in furtherance of the society’s primary objectives

  • To cooperate with other national and international organizations having common or related objectives, in furtherance of the public interest

Because its purpose is that of a professional society, the ISEE does not assume responsibility or liability in regard to the performance of its members. Membership in the New England Chapter of ISEE does, however, indicate that an individual or company is strongly committed to the safe, professional practice of explosives engineering.

New England Chapter provides opportunity for presentation of technical education programs, discussion of regulations, safety issues, and meetings to address local concerns. We also offer educational scholarships to students to attend technical schools or universities using chapter resources to fund programs.
